It's an interesting mixture of genres this time. Nice to see that two of them are set in my home town (Winnipeg) and to see works of speculative fiction in the mix. The panelists and the final 5 books will be announced on January 31, 2017. Which books do you recommend and/or think should be on the final list?

Thanks for the heads-up! Perhaps I'll finally get around to borrowing The Just City (it's on my TBR list).

I've not read any of these (yet!). If I haven't already read them, I tend not to until after I listen to the competition. It helps me decide which ones to add to my tbr (I won't necessarily read even all the 5 finalists... I pick and choose).

I've only read The Break, which was good. I will read all five finalists before the debates begin. I find I enjoy the debates more if I can "participate" based on my own knowledge and opinions.

Not only have I not read any of these, other than Fifteen Dogs, I haven't even heard of any of them. Based on the title, I'm interested in even this page is white.
