password = ROOTS
We're coming to the final push and we are still on target to reach our goal!

Below is the current list of members that have identified a ROOT goal for 2016 and how many books they read by the end of October.
The percentage is calculated and a star awarded for those on target to reach their goals. More stars for farther toward their goal.

I have removed twelve members to a separate list because they have yet to read one ROOT. They may have forgotten that they set a goal, or real life may have gotten in the way, but until they start up, we will not let their numbers affect the group goal.
I've made an executive decision and removed nine people who have not reach at least 10% of their goal and have had no progress posted in the last 6 months. The numbers have been adjusted.

I think they must have forgotten us.

If there is © next to your name, I see a ticker on your thread that is not in the ticker thread. If you could copy the code to the Ticker thread it would be a huge help each month.
If anyone's number is incorrect, please let me know and I will make the necessary adjustments.

So go out there and dig those ROOTs.

Thanks cyderry, greatly appreciate all the work collating our varied tickers. So good to see how many ROOTs people are clearing off their shelves to make room for new books.

It would be interesting to look at some of the physical dimensions of what people have cleared off their shelves (e.g., we ROOTed through books which if stacked would be as high as X). If I get some time later in the year I may figure that out for my ROOTs.

GOOOOOOAAAAAAAL

I have reached my target of 66 ROOTS. November's ROOTS so far are:

Caesar Dies by Talbot Mundy
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
Daughter of the Gods by Stephanie Thornton
The Taexali Game by Nancy Jardine (abandoned uncompleted)
Dead Egotistical Morons by Mark Richard Zubro
I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

Tickers updated. Any more ROOTS for this year will be contributed to the group total.

Hello everyone! Alright, so November was slightly slower than I thought it would be. Although, I have to say that one of my ROOTs for November was a real chunkster at 583 pages. I actually read five less ROOTs this month than last November, which is a gap that I hope to close this month!

Anyway, in keeping with the group theme, here are my totals for November:

Ancient Oaks Pruned: stands for older books read from my TBR pile: 1
Young Saplings Pruned: stands for newer books read from my TBR pile: 3
Trees Replanted: stands for rereads from my TBR pile: 1
New Seeds Planted: stands for additions to my TBR pile: 4
Trees Transplanted: stands for books that were donated: 4

I'm always keeping my personal ticker updated, but I never touch the group one!

Hey, everyone, need your opinion about a dilemma.

I have been working on the numbers and have come across 4 readers who had not posted any ROOTS read until this month. They had been moved from our working totals. 156 books were their cumulative goals but the books that they have posted total 12. >193 Tess_W: Absolutely! Give them the opportunity, but they ought to respond within whatever time limit Chèli gives them.

>193 Tess_W:, >194 CurrerBell: If they do not respond within Cheli's time frame, I suggest adding the 12 to both sides. If any do respond, I would use any revised goals, and just add what they have already read on both sides of the equation for the others.

>195 sallylou61: That sounds best of all. (I suddenly understand what "both sides of the equation" means, which was where I was having my problem.)

Personally, I don't have time to be contacting anyone. I think I'll just add the 12 to both sides.

I'm fairly confident, with all the good progress we've made this year, that as a group we'll manage 144! Let's get reading!

Root 1 for December: The Road to Lichfield by Penelope Lively. So so. I've enjoyed others by her considerably more.
