I'm reading NW by Zadie Smith. So far it's interesting. Not sure about the writing style, but it's not difficult. She is a new-to-me author.

I remember liking NW.

I'm not sure if I'll get any Orange-Baileys read in July, but I have The Observations by Jane Harris on request from the library, so it depends when it comes in for me.

I've just started The Glorious Heresies..... Uh.... I'm not up to snuff on current Irish slang, but I sure do get all the obscenities.

>3 LizzieD: Ha ha. That one is supposed to arrive for at my house in the next week or so. Don't think I'm up on Irish slang either.

Only another 25 pages or so to go with NW and I've really enjoyed it, although I must say it doesn't exactly have a strong plot.

>3 LizzieD: Lucky you to be reading it already. I'm at the front of my library's queue for that one when it's released in the US on August 9. I'm amused by your comment, Peggy and looking forward to it even more now. :)

My copy of The Glorious Heresies arrived from Chapters-Indigo. The cover is even uglier in real life than on the screen.

It IS an ugly cover, Joyce. I've also put it aside for the time being. I just couldn't quite get into it. I do hope that I'll enjoy it later.....and I'll be eager to see what you think of it now.
So, Laura, did you read it? Hopping back to 75 to find out!

>7 LizzieD: I'm reading The Glorious Heresies now! It's ugly for sure. It took me a bit of time to get into the dialect but I'm enjoying it now (~100 pages in). I like the subtle ways the author connects the lives of her characters. I can be merrily reading along and then suddenly some dots are connected that make me say, "aha!" or "ooohhhh". I like that.

Thanks for the encouragement, Laura. I hadn't read but 40 pp, and I realize that's not enough to be fair about it. I'll get back to it, but first I have to finish Hag-Seed, which surely will be on the Orange/Bailey list next year.

So it's next year already, and again I ask the question: anybody reading Orange this month?
(I never got back to *Heresies*, but I doubt I'll get to it right now.)

I read Outline at the end of June, so almost.

I just finished Lyrics Alley by Aboulela and enjoyed it. It was nominated in 2011.

I absolutely forgot about Orange this month. Both Outline and Lyrics Alley are waiting for me, so I'm glad that you enjoyed them, Joyce and Danielle.
