And American politicians who are good Clauswitzians also inflate the rhetoric any resistance or use the term in the hopes of getting some reaction from their jaded public. I think the OED should provide a definition....also a philosopher called Hugo Grotius wrote extensively on the subject.

The U.S. is not at war. We haven't been at war since 1945, per the Constitutional definition.

Is the U.S. somebody else's tool of war? Is a TOW used to destroy a bulldozer cost effective?

Today war is by proxy and by drones . Or war has transmuted into terrorism , where the objective in a political sense , of the specific horror event is not immediately identifiable .
