I've been playing with YardMap today. The tools are not as easy to use as those here, but it's still absorbing.
So, I've created a group there just for us, so we can look at each others maps more easily.
It's called LibraryThing Yarders. Here's the direct link:
http://app.yardmap.org/map#!/groups/#groups%2FC10059%2Fdetail
I've used the same name as I use here.
ETA: Any member requests come to me by email, so if there is a delay, it's because I'm not online.

*blush* I see I've over-guessed my property lines on the ridgetop. I've mapped 7 acres rather than 5.

I've been playing around with YardMap, but I haven't gotten very far. Although the truth is, I don't have very much to do there, since I have almost nothing in my yard except grass.
This is a great website! There's an area of the site that encourages you to figure out what percentage of your property is turf grass. Evidently there's a law in California that says new houses being built can't have more than 25% of the landscaped property in turf grass, so this site is challenging people to do the same in their own yards.
Thanks for setting up the group there, Ruth!

I signed on to that website a long time ago...and then I didn't do anything with it. I think I'll follow along though... :)

I'm not joining that group after all. First of all, my hacked account is still there with a password reset sent to the hackers. :( Second of all, I find it too hard to use. I'll just stick around here and talk to others when I start doing yard work. Sorry.

I mapped my property lines but so far nothing else. My yard is obscured by trees in the satellite view. I'm posting to this thread so I don't lose it, will join the YardMap group too but maybe not until I get back there and sort through how I'm going to use it.

>6 qebo: Yeah, both of mine were taken when the tree shadows were long. It makes it difficult to pinpoint other features.

Ha! Cornell is patting some of us on the back with their fall campaign -
