Exciting news - Five Windows Peter West and The English Air have been re-published by Grey Ladies!! These are hard to find titles.

Has anyone read Peter West?

I recommend Five Windows, not crazy about The English Air, although I know other folks are.

They had already published Jean Erskine's secret and Found in the Attic, previously unpublished titles. Found in the Attic is a collection of bits and pieces found in the attic. "Wintering" a story told in poetry is worth a read as are the bits on her opinions on writing fiction. I keep meaning to look up bits and put them in the quotations group. Haven't been able to find them online, so I'll have to type them. I don't recommend Jean Erskine's Secret, it must have been written early in her career.

Emily Dennistoun is another of the attic books. My comment when I read it was, "It is overwrought, and brooding, and almost entirely humourless." The Fair Miss Fortune is nice enough, but seems incomplete. I thought Found in the Attic was a good collection, and I loved "Wintering". Portrait of Saskia was disappointing.

I'm very happy about Five Windows being reprinted. It is a wonderful book. I already had a copy of The English Air, which I liked well enough when I read it many years ago, but haven't revisited. It is jumbled in my mind with Sarah Morris Remembers

Apparently Vittoria Cottage will soon be released in audio. Not a favourite of mine, so I doubt that I'll get it.

The covers are fun, I think. Maybe I'll try posting them. I don't have Celia's House, so I got it in Kindle format. I have all of the others, but Young Clementina is a fairly fragile paperback. I'll have to re-read before I decide whether to buy this version. I do want to support this effort, though and I want Mrs Tim Carries On to be more widely available, I am hoping if the earlier ones sell, they will keep going.

>3 MDGentleReader: I have not yet read either The Two Mrs. Abbotts or The Four Graces but they are on my shelf...

As far as I can tell, they have now published almost all of her titles in Kindle format.

I recommend:
Five Windows
The Blue Sapphire
Mrs. Tim Carries On

Even: The Fair Miss Fortune, Peter West and The Empty World (apocalytic)

Not, however, Found in the Attic.
Or Rosabelle Shaw ( thank goodness, not recommended)

Bump.

I did read The Two Mrs. Abbotts and The Four Graces, and enjoyed them.

However, those two have been rehomed in a purge. I believe someone else will enjoy them as much if not more than I did.

I read The Two Mrs. Abbotts recently and really liked it. It has lots of interesting unique characters.
