Someone pointed out to me that work-spam voting was the only sort of "voting" with a badge.

I've rectified that by adding four new badges:

* Voting: Cover flagging for voting on cover flagging (25/250/1000)
* Voting: Picture flagging for voting on picture flagging (25/250/500)
* Voting: Tag combination for voting on tag combinations (50/500/2500)
* Voting: Tag translations for voting on tag translations (25/100/250)

This one changed its name, from "Work-Spam Voting."

* Voting: Work spam for voting on work spam/unspam (50/250/500)

And a new voting-summary badge was added:

* Voting: Helpers for voting on tag combination, picture flagging, cover flagging, work spam and unspamming and tag translations (250/1000/5000)

Note that voting does NOT count toward the overall "Helpers" badge—voting is so much easier that it really doesn't deserve to be counted the same. Formerly the "Work-Spam Voting" (now, "Voting: Work spam") was counted toward the "Helpers" totals, but I removed them. To give back, I moved the "silver" level for the "Helpers" badge from 500 to 250 Helper actions. The net result is many more silvers, but some members will have lost a medal color.

As a reminder, you can see your medals here: https://www.librarything.com/profile/MEMBERNAME/stats/badges
You can find out more about badges on the wiki here: http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.php/Helper_badges

These are great but I'm not sure the numbers are right. I have over 4,000 on tag combination and I'm pretty sure I haven't done that much. I may be wrong ... maybe I've forgotten a time when I did a lot ... but I don't remember 4,300 odd votes.

BTW, I tried to post my last badge award to FB from my RSS feed, but it disappeared into the cloud or sumthin'. Is this the same long-term bug?

I'm going to have to get a second chest. My badges don't all fit on mine anymore.

I have over 4,000 on tag combination and I'm pretty sure I haven't done that much.

I'm showing 711 no votes, 843 unsures and 2,839 yeses. I believe that a PROPOSAL always includes a yes vote when you do it. Maybe that's the difference?

BTW, I tried to post my last badge award to FB from my RSS feed

I'm unsure what that means. From https://www.librarything.com/yourfeed.php ?

>8 timspalding:

No, it does not. You need to click on the Yes after you propose it (unless if you are saying that when you do that, it counts twice for the stats here?)

Well, I'm pretty sure it's right. Maybe K has invisible weavers helping her?

Also, if you vote one way, then change your vote does that count as one or two votes? I've done that more than a few times.

Meh. I want to give unsures the benefit of the doubt. It's better to be unsure than wrongly sure.

It does NOT count changed minds.

Yes. I did everything indicated from the LT side, but nothing appeared on FB.

I'm fairly certain I've never voted on a tag combination and now I have a badge that says I've done it 85 times.

18AnnieMod

Maybe something similar to CK updates is happening in the stats -- separations and combinations forces actions on one object to show up elsewhere...

Late to this room in the party, but y'all gave me a badge for voting on 223 tag combinations, and I'm pretty darn sure I never voted on a single one.

25henkl
Feb 13, 2016, 5:50 am

I got a badge for voting on 6926 tag combinations. I hardly ever voted on those combinations.

26timspalding
Feb 13, 2016, 7:58 am

Hmm. Okay, clearly it's sampling something wrong.

27timspalding
Feb 13, 2016, 8:00 am

It's tag combinations and separations, apparently. But… well, this is odd.

28timspalding
Feb 13, 2016, 8:11 am

Yeah, I really have no idea here. The only thing I can see adding to this type of vote are the tag combinations.

See http://www.librarything.com/tags_combinations.php

From your dashboard, there is a link on the left that says Helpers. This is where your numbers are shown in full detail. It might take you to the appropriate helper log to find where/when you did these things.

30PhaedraB
Feb 13, 2016, 5:11 pm

>29 gilroy: My memory is not that deficient.

As I studiously avoid voting on tag combinations at all, the idea that I would have done so without realizing it 223 times is absurd.

35timspalding

Well, it's "voting" data. At some point some other item of voting must have gone into type number 3. But, honestly, I can't figure out what.

Like others here, I have never voted on a tag combination; I didn't even know it was a thing until I got a medal for doing it 56 times or some such. WTF?

There's a message with the "Looters Locker" badge (for participating in the Talk like a Pirate Day scavenger hunt) that mentions new badges, and links here. Are there actually new badges and it just linked to the wrong thread, or was that note left in by mistake?

I definitely have badges I didn't earn, or have more credit than I deserve. I don't think I ever voted on tag combinations and I'm fairly certain I haven't added that many covers. Also cover flagging: I've done maybe 2 or 3? Oh well …

Well, it says I voted for 63. I don't remember any of them, which is a bit concerning — regarding my mental health, I mean. Perhaps I did it when I joined but I just don't have any recollection of doing this.

>51 krazy4katz: Something is wonky there, it says I voted to combine a Russian language version of Soviet Union and the tag Soviet Union. No way would I have done that, even to test it or play. I wouldn't vote on something I know nothing about like the Russian language. Ghosts are playing in my account! I would say my husband might have done it, but he has no idea how to sign into LT, let alone vote on tag combinations. The other one I am credited with voting on is plausible, perhaps when feature was first introduced I did that for fun?

I have a question about tag combination. When I find

xaagmabag has proposed combining the tag intterpretation and interpretation.

my first thought is "rather than combining tag, the tag issuer should be advised that s/he probably misspelled the word". Does it make any sense?

This is the funniest topic! Nobody is whining about not having a badge. People are actually arguing and complaining about unjustly being given credit. I love the United States!

It is very difficult to find the link to vote on cover flags. Can this be linked from on the wiki thing page under badges so I don't have to do a Google search every time?

>57 lemontwist: I keep a word file with addresses for LT - the voting pages and whatever I happen to be working on. Much easier than doing a search each time.

And I have to agree with you that the cover flags page is really hard to find.
