Hi,
I am a new fan of LibraryThing.
I have two questions to ask.
1. Is there a way to scan UPC barcodes for adding titles to a collection? Is that something that will be in TinyCAT?
2. I have been using Collectorz.com's Book Collector for some time now, but I was wondering if there was a way to migrate my collection's listing to LibraryThing that doesn't involve manually entering all my books. I have quite the personal collection (over 200 books!) and was hoping there might be a file export/import option.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

1 TinyCAT is something different. I don't scan bar codes myself, but it's always been possible to scan to the add book page. And it's a feature of the new app. http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.php/CueCat%3A_ISBNs_and_Barcodes

2 200 isn't that big a collection here, but yes you can import. http://www.librarything.com/more/import

Scanning UPC barcodes won't do you any good though, you'll need to scan the ISBN barcodes.

You'll need to export your existing collection to a file format that Librarything can understand, like comma separated value. Then you can import. Be sure to double check after upload to make sure information didn't get posted to the incorrect database field.

Really? Does that work in the library interfaces?

Yup.

Can anyone recommend please a best format for exporting from collectorz and importing to LibraryThing?

>8 Edwin_Slonim: The information provided in this thread actually hasn't changed since 2016.
Export to a Comma Separated Values file, make sure the columns match the recommended file format from the Universal Import screen, upload the file.
