Frances Mayes memoir focuses on the house and grounds and the food. It's very sensual.

I just re-watched the movie. It has its own charms. The main character and all of her home work crew are just adorable. The film only touches lightly on the renovation adventures, though I suppose it can be forgiven what with time constraints. The photography is fine, but I've seen better filmmakers where the camera caresses the scenery.

That is a movie/book I've been meaning to see/read one day. From your description, it sounds as if I would enjoy the book more.

Loved this book, have you read her follow up book?

I think I did. I know I read about some of her travels around Italy and the foods she experienced.
