I read the first book in his Atilla series, and I have the second one but have not yet read it. I gave the first one three stars, so it must have been reasonable. It's been over a year already...
ETA: It's actually been five years since I read the first book and I can't remember too many details. Sorry.

I also stopped reading his Atilla series after the first book. The story was decent though unbelievable that a boy slave could survive a battle where 90% are killed and he had no military training. I was put off by his use of modern slang cliches when the novel was set in Roman times... that ruins it for me.
