This is a simple question - are we going to have an election in a few weeks or not?

I don't know why you're asking us! But I think it is unlikely.

If we don't know by the end of next week my guess would be no.

My guess would be no - I don`t think Gordy`s feeling any too confident.

I saw a clip of his conference speech and noticed he went out of his way to portray people in the UK - and by extension himself - as `calm in a crisis`. In real life, if someone keeps telling you how calm they are, they`re clearly not. The same goes in his world.

I`ve not been keeping up with events for a day or so, so if he`s already called one, feel free to poke fun at me !

I don't think so - I have never really thought it likely there would be one. Labour is ahead in the polls, but Gordon Brown is cautious and not in my view likely to call an early election on this basis.

Probably not is my informed guess.........

You might be right.

I think the saddest thing is that, with all the issues facing the nation at present, all the pundits find fascinating are questions of political tactics by the two major parties.

`Deckchairs` and `Titanic` come to mind.
