The design of this book was quite beautiful, with the cutout front cover and the intricate map on the front endpaper. (I assume the splattering of advertising copy over the remainder of the endpapers was the tradeoff for the sparse cover design.)
But has anyone figured out the connection between the map and the story? It's only of the first floor of the house while much of the action takes place upstairs. And what do the red symbols mean?

>2 avanders:: Nor me. Neither do I have a cut-out front cover — if we're talking about the dust-cover. Taking off the paper dust-cover the binding is red and I must admit it's quite handsome. May end up being a book I shelve without a wrapper.
