Bloody blind drivers who don't look when pulling out of junctions. Yes that object heading towards you is me, if you slow down when I've got right of way I'll take it that you've seen me and carry on. If you then pull out anyway you'll hit me, just like you did this afternoon. It's no good being all sorry afterwards, that doesn't fix anything except help prevent me swearing at you.

"The sun" is not a reasonable excuse, if you can't see me, you equally couldn't have seen a speeding truck which would have done you a lot more damage. Look - with your eyes open, each way, properly, taking time to do so, and we'll all be happier.

Fortunetly I've quick responces and although we touched I stayed upright and the bike miraculously was undamaged.

No harm, No foul, except for my nerves. At least she did have the decency to stop and check I was ok.

I know the feeling... Since I moved out from the inner city the incidents have been fewer. Before I almost got run over several times a year. "Best" so far was the angry cab diver who ignored his obligation to stop at an intersection (my road main road). He missed me by half an inch and I got fairly upset. However he thought he was in his right and jumped out of the car starting an angry argument with me.
?!?!?!
Another top notion was the woman in the SAAB who almost ran over a kid on a bike right in front of me when she did not see (or choose to ignore) the red stop light in front of her. I don't even think she knew she almost ran over the kid.

I think the world is brim full of stories like that.

(And why is it people who can afford SUVs or german luxury cars don't seem to have had money enough to buy functioning directional indicators? Hey, traffic rules are there to guarantee SAFETY, not to irk you off, you rich bitch in that Porsche Cayenne, yes I'm talking to YOU...!)

In the UK it's mainly the 'people carriers' and city 4x4 drivers that I have trouble with getting too darn close when overtaking. Some quite often overtaking when a car is coming in the other direction and passing too close or cutting in early.

On the other side of the argument there are some really bad cyclists out there too. Last weekend I saw a cyclist jump a red light without any obvious care for what traffic might cross.

Last weekend I saw a cyclist jump a red light without any obvious care for what traffic might cross.

That's so common here that I drive on the assumption that all bicyclists will ignore all lights and stop signs.

What I did not expect, however, was that one of them would be so dumb as to be biking south in a northbound lane of traffic and then make a left-hand turn from that lane directly into traffic travelling west-bound. He nearly got himself killed. Fortunately, I have good brakes and good reflexes.
