Five ARCs, all coming out in October (10/20 in particular seems like it's going to be a spectacular day):

* _First Time with a Highlander_ by Gwyn Cready (time travel romance)

* Carrying Albert Home by Homer Hickam (novel, but based on his parents' lives; set in the '20s and '30s, I believe)

* Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs: The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe by Lisa Randall (science)

* The Lake House by Kate Morton (multi-time period novel -- our Morton lover quit the store, so this is the first of her ARCs I've had)

* Lafayette in the Somewhat United States by Sarah Vowell (umm -- historical essay? A former receiving manager loved her, but I haven't read her yet)

I was bee bopping through an antique mall Saturday and suspect the vendors all must have attended an estate sale of some deceased prof based on the nature of the books. Lots of history and art history books. I was short on cash so only came away with a few. The Juhl Letters to the Charleston Courier, Perdita: the literary, theatrical, Scandalous life of Mary Robinson, Memoir of the life and times of General John Lamb an Officer of the Revolution and Unexpected Journeys: The Art and life of Remedios Varo.

Two more ARCs:

* Magna Carta: The Birth of Liberty by Dan Jones (there's October 20 again)

* Eleanor: A Novel by Jason Gurley (maybe The Girl in the Wall meets The Time Traveler's Wife meets ...?)

Went to a (rather pitiful) Civil War reenactment today to shop and found few sutlers. Managed to pick up a CD of the 97th Regimental String Band as well as 3 books:

* The American Frugal Housewife by Lydia Maria Child (Dover edition, ISBN 9780486408408, originally published 1832; I may already own this, but I'm not sure)

* The Sociable; or One Thousand and One Home Amusements by "the author of 'The Magician's Own Book'" (Applewood Books, ISBN 9781557095602, originally published 1858)

* Martine's Hand-Book of Etiquette, and Guide to True Politeness by Arthur Martine (Applewood Books, ISBN 1557094292, originally published 1866)
