"The consummate Victorian novelist was told to cut out a quarter of his best novel. Now 'The Duke’s Children’ has been superbly restored"

Thank you for this. It reminded me that Trollope's birthday is Friday--need to pull something off the shelf in his honor.

I didn't know this novel had been truncated. Now I'm eager to read it. But not for $195. Hopefully libraries will soon have copies of the restored version in circulation.

TLS also has a good article on the full Duke's Children http://www.the-tls.co.uk/tls/public/article1546998.ece

I finally went for the Folio Society published newly restored Fine Limited Edition of The Duke's Children. I was surprised to see that some copies were still available. Even after waiting to make the purchase, I now can't wait for the delivery.
I am not a good model for rational book behavior.
