Hello--

I'm a bookseller and a long time LT member. I don't know cozies as well as I'd like, but would very much like to get more in the store. A customer recently asked me for cozies specifically without cats or dogs.

Suggestions?

Please and thank you.

Becky

I'd start with Berkeley Prime Crime titles (little handprint logo): they have scores of series with cozy sleuths that own inns, make scrapbooks, run tea shops, etc. Tamar Myers writes multiple cozy series; probably best known for the Pennsylvania Dutch mysteries--all goofy with a little slapstick.

It's pretty common for the amateur detectives in cozies to own pets. I wonder if your customer was referring specifically to authors that use an animal/pet as a pseudo-narrator (Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown; Carole Nelson Douglas' Midnight Louie series).

Thank you! I didn't deal with her directly, but I'm pretty sure she meant Sneaky Pie and Midnight Louie type things.

You'd think a seasoned bookseller would be better at sussing stuff out, but every once in a while I have to ask for help. Berkeley Prime Crime is fantastic!

Seasoned booksellers probably have so much going on trying to keep track of genres, series, bestsellers, and general shopkeeping stuff, there's not much time left to "suss!" :)

I'm new to this group, so not sure whether these fit exactly. Hot Chill Club by Nancy Thayer (4 in series) may be odd cat/dog in them Great for Middle/Senior women
