I have come across a gazillion profiles which are clearly spam, usually no books cataloged but spammy stuff and web sites on profile. Is there any point in flagging them?

At the very bottom right of the profile page is a red flag and " Report for spam". Is that what you want or do you have something else in mind?

>2 Taphophile13: I know how to flag, but I have come across hundreds of profiles which are clearly spam. There may not be works, but the description and web links are spam. I'm wondering if flagging all these "dead and useless" profiles is worth it. It would be annoying to post all the profiles in the Spam group to get additional flags. If I flagged 100 profiles would it make a difference to LT?

Is there a pattern to them? If so, tell staff about the pattern so that they can find them and remove them. Or post info on the pattern in the spam reporting thread, so other members can find and flag them.

I've certainly come across 100s of such spammy profiles in the past, and flagged them. I think getting rid of the junk does help LT.

Bring them to the attention of this group as you come across them, please. It will take more than one flag to remove them, but as Tim recently upgraded the algorithm, the most reliable flaggers carry more weight. Yeah, if that junk can be taken down, it saves cloud room for more important stuff.

Never mind.

Thanks MJ, I went looking and eventually found it.

I have flagged both. Two brand new members, one with only this book entered, the other with none entered.

What do you think?

>9 MarthaJeanne: Overzealous author or some close party flaunting their own wares, not flagged outright usually though LT staff or some user will send them a message with a link and reminder to read LT's author policies/help page.

Additional sock-pupettry may complicate the matter if there is, though.

I flagged the messages, not the members.

And I thought I had opened 'Is this Spam?'
