Sir Martin Gilbert, the acclaimed biographer of Winston Churchill, died on February 3, 2015.
Although best known for the Churchill biography volumes, Sir Martin Gilbert was the author of 68 books, including histories of the Holocaust, both World Wars, and the 20th Century.
I have a number of Gilbert titles in my collection, and I am continually impressed by the quality of each work. Gilbert was an excellent historian and writer, and he usually wrote from primary-source materials and with great concern to tell the story in an objective and faithful manner.
