Werewolf of Paris and Man-wolf both have sex as central themes. Not sure if it's censorship, but there seems to be few sexy horror stories. Maybe self-censorship is the reason for only implied sex in horror stories? Maybe Carmilla by LeFanu? Except for recent sexy horror, any other favorites?

With Poe, sex is ever-present but only implied. Haven't read recent sexy horror like Ann Rice, et al.

Arthur Machen's "The Great God Pan" trafficks mildly in feminine erotic energy. The female character generates a sort of psychic sexual havoc that ruins several lives.

Also the Sansom story, "A Woman Seldom Found" is a potentially erotic tale that sort of devolves into something sinister (a common enough theme in horror films and undergraduate sagas). In thinking on that story, I am put in mind of a famous song by Peter and the Test Tube Babies. Can anyone name that tune?

(Over the hills we go my dear,
to my house which is near.
It's a little house with red curtained windows,
and a fireplace with red glowing cinders, ....)

A quote from Samuel Beckett worth obsessing upon:

"And at the same time I inclined his young mind towards that most fruitful of dispositions, horror of the body and its functions." (from Molloy)

Then there's what the Cthulhu looked like and HP Lovecraft's terrible track record with the opposite sex.

The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker:

Re: Hellraiser: "I sat alone and waited for that uncanny light from another world to filter its way through the dust-filled dark and project its mysteries onto the screen. The first of those mysteries came in the form of Frank Cotton, a man who had tasted all the intimate pleasures the body had to offer, but whose fascination with them had been dulled through time and repetition. The film opens with Frank at the end of a quest to obtain the holiest of holies: a magic box that promised to satiate his most extreme desires and deliver him into a state of perpetual pleasure and revelation."

Sounds a lot like Against Nature and 120 Days of Sodom, a dark commingling of the sacrament and perversion, pleasure and death.

>2 Randy_Hierodule:

Machen's story was pretty seminal, influencing Lovecraft ("The Dunwich Horror"), King ("N"), Straub (Ghost Story), and others.

Weird Horror Master Thomas Ligotti's Review of the Hotdog Pizza from Pizza Hut:

Interesting, and I don't much care if the hot dog pizza is actually offered for sale, or not. The idea of it is enough.

Perhaps not written by Ligotti, however? It is signed "– Zack "Geist Editor" Parsons (@sexyfacts4u)"

Perhaps a copy of the Pizza Hut menu should be posted to the Citations Infernales thread?

Zack Parsons by the way has contributed a parody of Lovecraft to A Commonplace Book of the Weird, which brings me back to >7 paradoxosalpha: I can't help thinking that Machen might well have been horrified to learn he'd anything in common w. Lovecraft except, possibly/probably and anachronistically, a Fox News state of mind.

The poetry of Oskar Kokoschka:

Here is a cutting from OK's textual embellishment to "The Dreaming Boys," an evocation of the wondrous awakening adolescent sexuality... pulled from the site aptly named "inspirationalstories.com":

Little red fish, little fish red
with a triple-edged knife
I’ll cut you dead,
then with my fingers I’ll tear you in two,
put an end to the silent circling you do.

(Hot!!!)

A fascinating article about the intersections of homosexuality and fascism:
