If you are traveling through the Constitution State (Nutmeg State has been rendered obsolete because it is a derogatory term), here are a couple of stops for you. The Book Barn (Niantic) is enormous. The venerable Whitlock's Book Barn (Woodbridge) has a much smaller selection but is under new management and is a great place to browse.

I LOVE the Book Barn in Niantic. I can get lost in that place for hours.

I'm another Book Barn, Niantic fan. I could shop there all day. I've planned vacations around getting in a visit there! They've expanded to three locations now -- they have the original Main Barn and outbuildings (like a book village) on the edge of town. Then there are now TWO other locations, Downtown and Midtown.

The Book Barn is awesome. Truly! It's an amazing store and such a treat to visit. It's huge, creative, stocked with EVERYTHING and even has farm animals and pretty grounds to walk through if the weather's nice. Come armed with your wishlist and a tote bag or two!

I have wanted to visit the Book Barn for a long time now but, apart from the fact that it is quite far from where I live, I still have not found a plausible excuse to take the trip (Do I need more books? That does not sound convincing, at least to my children).
