I found this at B&N for a steal so I'll be joining in this month!

Good read, thanks again Stephen King.

I thought this was a great murder mystery. I liked seeing how Stephen King approached a different genre.
I noticed that many people on LT tagged Joyland "horror." Do you think they just did that because it's by Stephen King?

I just started Joyland. So far, so good. Everytime I read a King book I am so impressed with his writing.

I enjoyed Joyland! It is a great murder mystery without the gore that King is known for. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like Horror and is afraid to try King.

I just finished this book. PaperbackPirate, I decided to tag it "horror" because of the ghost and also it is by Stephen King. I have decided on the tags I use, and murder-mystery is not one I have. 'Thriller' was the next closest one, but I went with Horror.
I got a kick out of the names King gave the Joyland attractions/positions: Delirium Shakes, Captain Nemo's Splash and Crash, Wiggle-Waggle Village, Happy Hound Shuttle, Carolina Spin, Annie Oakley Shootin' Gallery, etc. I checked my list of top 5 Stephen King books, http://www.librarything.com/topic/133093, wondering if I should replace one with Joyland. In the end, decided not to make changes. Bit is is certainly in my top 10!

You're right, the ghost element does make it more than just a typical murder mystery.
I'm glad you liked it!

I give it a four. But I will say, it took roughly 75 pages to get interesting. I've learned to be patient with books, but over 70 is not cool, but glad I finished it.

And that's another thing, I haven't read too much of King's stuff, seen more of his movies, but he always seems to have some psychic character or element in them. Sorry, I'm a tough grader.
