Hi friends!
Well the first half of the year went by insanely quick and I don't see the second half slowing down any!!
Chloe is almost three months old now and I can't believe how fast she is growing and how each day flies by!

I've just started to be able to read after Chloe is in bed at night and it's wonderful! It's hard to pick which book should get my attention since all my books have been neglected for so long!

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful 2014! I'd like to try and pop around the threads again soon as I miss everyone!

Chloe is adorable, Chelle! Hooray for being able to squeeze in some reading time. I remember my child-raising years and I don't think I got much reading done but don't worry, that's the great thing about reading, the books will be there when you do finally get the time for them.

Hi Chelle, thanks for passing by my thread my dear. Chloe is gorgeous and really coming on, nice that you can get a bit of reading in now. Karen and I send love and hugs to you all.

Posting two days in a row!! GASP!
I had to run into town today for an oil change and new tires so I left the wee one with her Daddy for a few hours. It went pretty smoothly for both of them, thankfully! While I was waiting for my car the shuttle dropped me off at the mall (dangerous! Always dangerous!)
I managed to not do too much damage (a new outfit for Chloe for $8, three new books totalling $6, dollarstore visit $2)
New books are:
For me: Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver
For Chloe: The Biggest Bear Hunt by Jaqueline East
Waking Dragons by Jane Yolen

I LOVE the pictures in Waking Dragons! Chloe is at the stage that she loves colour and this book is short on words but big on colour! And for only $2!

3 Thanks Judy! I am totally impressed with Chloe's ability to sleep through the night. She is usually asleep by 830 and stays that way until the wee hours of the morning. I got a couple hours of reading in last night (and a bubble bath!) before bed. If this keeps up I might actually finish more than one book this month lol

4 Hi John! Hugs to you and Karen

5 Thanks Zoe! I agree but I might be biased

6 Thanks Nora! She is in the "making faces" stage and it's freaking adorable. I love seeing her make funny faces in her cradle in the morning and after naps. (Before the cranky stage sets in!)

7 Thanks Laura! I take about 20 pictures of her a day ... might be overdoing it but oh well! :)

8 HA Thanks Suz! Maybe if I post baby and kittens I'll get double the visitors?

9 Thanks Roni! After the first two months of no reading I was getting worried that my reading life had come to an end! She is getting to the stage now that she will sit quietly in my lap and let me read to her, which is wonderful! She loves the picture books that are full of colour

10 Thanks Ellen! We are making progress

11 Thanks Amber! She is sweet most of the time .... except when she is wailing like a banshee. She isn't so sweet then lol

Hi Chelle, I love the pictures in waking dragons, you will have a lovely time over the next few years my dear picking out all the lovely children's books. We are having a lovely time with Hannah and books, she likes to go to the book box and pick out a book that she wants read to her, luckily we kept quite a lot of books that we got for Rob and Amy and it is so nice to be able to read them to her, this year she will be old enough for the Christmas book that my two used to have read each and every Christmas, Alpaca Saves Christmas and also another favourite of ours, Can't you sleep little Bear.

Book Delivery!! Book Delivery!! I love it when Mr Mailman brings me books!
I had gotten some gift cards for my birthday and pre-ordered some books that I wanted. The final book was just released and I got the delivery today!
For me:
Mr Mercedes by Stephen King
Visions by Kelley Armstrong
Unlucky 13 by James Patterson (only because I've read the whole series)

For Chloe:
Each Peach Pear Plum by Allan Ahlberg

I have to return two books that we got as gifts since I made the order:
On the Night you were born by Nancy Tillman
The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson

I think I will purchase another Tillman book as I really love On the night you were born. Not sure what else I'll get yet.

13 Hi John! Yes, I'm looking forward to reading with Chloe as she grows. She finally has started to sit quietly and calmly while I read her a book. She likes books with lots of colour so far.

14 Thanks Julia! We are quite fond of her and all her cuteness :)

15 Thanks Donna!! I refuse to spend $20 on a hardcover book for babies when they are just going to get goobered on and probably ripped. I'm a big fan of Chapters $2 book sales!

16 Hi Amber! Hopefully Chloe turns into as good a reader as Charlie!

Sending you 'coast to coast' Happy New Thread wishes to you Chelle! Please give Chloe a hug for me.... she is sooooo sweet! Well, Chloe is just beautiful!!! :) I love all of your thread topper pictures, but especially the middle one with you both making fish lips.

And the picture of her on her first trip to the book store is priceless! You'll have to save that one for the baby book. Hopefully, she'll share your love of reading. I wish I had a picture of me in a book store as a baby. :)

Ago 23, 2014, 8:14 pm

20 I agree Amber! That's the only book we have by the Allbergs right now. I thought I had a copy of The Jolly Postman but I can't seem to find it. It might be in my baby box or my sister might have kept it. Unfortunately my baby box went to our storage unit so I can't look through it right now :(

21 Extra hugs given Lori! Thanks!
I really love looking at baby clothes and books, but right now I enjoy the books more because the only store we have for baby clothes right now is Winners or Walmart. When we go back to London, Ontario to visit next month there is a brand new Carter's/OshKosh store that I am dying to visit!

22 Thanks Tina! I have Chloe's baby book up to date up to 2 months. In another week or two I'll start collecting the 3 months photos to add. The book store photo will make the cut for sure!

23 Thanks Micky! Chloe appreciates the admiration :)

"Gramma says I look like a boy in my cargo pants :-("

25) Thanks Kerri, it's nice to have some time to be back!

26) Thanks Linda! We are very fond of her and all her cuteness!

27) Thanks Paul! I take a ton of photos every day so I suppose I could add a few on here :)

28) Thanks Cee! I'm happy to be back!
We feel very blessed! Not only to have a beautiful, happy, healthy baby but also to have a great sleeper! She only likes me to read to her when she is in a good mood. Once she starts to get a tad tired or cranky she will not sit to be read to. Hopefully when she gets older we will be able to read together before bed. Right now reading is a morning activity as that's when she is super happy and content!

29) Hi Donna! I can only hope that she will grow to love reading as much as her Mommy! With the amount of books on her shelf right now she will have every opportunity to become a reader! :)

Keep those photos coming - she's beautiful!

Charlie was the same way with reading when he was tiny - he'd allow it when he was happy and well-rested, but bedtime reading wasn't really possible until he was a bit older. We eventually made bath time and evening feeding time into reading time: one of us would bath/feed when the other read aloud. It worked really well.

Whoop whoop, finished a book! This reading thing is great when I can find the time to do it!

I finished We Are Water by Wally Lamb. It was a good book but it had some really deep and hard to read topics in it that I might not have been quite ready to read at only 13 weeks postpartum! (Incest, molestation, infant death, child abuse) Overall it was a good read and I've always enjoyed Wally Lamb's books. I think perhaps I will read book jackets for a while when picking out my next reads for a while though!

31) Thanks for the visit Mark! :) I enjoyed Cress as much as the other books. I should check and see when the next one is coming out.

32) Thanks John! Chloe is progressing way too fast in my eyes!

33) Thanks Amber! That sounds like a wonderful routine for Charlie! Unfortunately with Nate doing shift work it would only work for part of the time. Right now we are trying to alternate who gives her a bath and nighttime bottle when we can so that she doesn't turn into a Mommy suck. My best friend has a baby a couple months older than Chloe and no one else can soothe her at all. If she needs to go out the baby has a meltdown on poor dad. Thankfully Chloe hasn't started that nonsense yet and loves to be held by her Daddy!

34) Thanks Joe! I think she sleeps so well at night because she fights sleep all day long and just exhausts herself by bedtime.

Hi Chelle! Oh my goodness, Chloe is adorable - such a little sweetie! You have so much fun to look forward to. And she's a good sleeper, too - hurray for that!

Well Amazon sucks! I got my copy of The Long Way Home yesterday and some smart person at Amazon shipping decided that it would be a great idea to put a novel and a container of baby bath soap in the same box without wrapping the soap in any sort of plastic wrap. Needless the box arrived soaked, the soap bottle empty and the novel ruined. It's all going back but thankfully the book is still readable so I can finish the long awaited book before I send it back! I'd have been really upset if I couldn't even read it after waiting for it to be released!!

Today is my two year wedding anniversary with Nate! I can't believe how fast time flies! It's been a great two years and as a present he challenged me to the ALS ice bucket challenge. Jerk LOL!!

36) Thanks Joanne! I am excited to see what the future brings with Chloe, but I'm in no hurry! She is already growing too fast!

37) Thanks Tina! She is currently laying on her play mat rolling all over and it's adorable! Cuteness overload for sure!

Today Chloe is three months old! Holy crap, time is racing by! We went for a coffee and play date with a friend at our local farmer's market this morning and this afternoon will be relaxing with her Daddy. Nate is working tonight so it will be a quiet evening with my sleeping baby and my Stephen King book! Hope everyone is enjoying the start of their long weekend.

Morning Mark! I would recommend you read it and decide what you think. I gobbled it up but I wasn't sure how I felt about some of the content. Could be hormones affecting my judgement though. It's got some pretty strong subject matter that some wouldn't like. I love Wally Lamb and am happy I read it.

Thanks Kerri!!

Happy Sunday Everyone!
Today we are taking it easy. Chloe and I have been playing and relaxing together today while Nate sleeps for his nightshift. This afternoon we might meet some friends at the festival going on in our town and go to the petting zoo with our friends kids. Chloe is too small but I thought it would be nice to get out of the house for a bit. It's a little overcast today and I hope the rain holds off until tonight!

Thanks Cee! Nate had to work so we are thinking of taking Chloe on a day trip on his days off this week. Hopefully the weather holds up. It's quite dreary here today

Hi Roni! I may overload everyone with Chloe photos sometimes! I just can't help myself
Here is my new favourite!

Thanks Kerry! I don't see myself reading any literary fiction or classics for a while. I'm working on a Stephen King right now and I've got a James Patterson and a Kelley Armstrong waiting for me.

Thanks Cushla! I was actually surprised that we didn't get nominated for the ice bucket challenge sooner as my facebook has been packed with videos for weeks now!

YIKES on the Amazon shipping fiasco, happy anniversary - even if Nate has challenged you to an ALS ice bucket challenge - and is Chloe really three months already?! Wow! I shouldn't talk. I saw my great nephew this past weekend and was surprised to see him walking - while, running/racing everywhere really - and I love the words he has mastered so far. "Uh oh" is his favorite phrase, and he usually uses it in context!

Good for Nate! (although I hope he follows it up with a lovely real gift...) I've lost one family friend to ALS and two others are battling it right now; 75 years after Lou Gehrig's retirement speech and there is NO cure and only ONE drug that doesn't do much of anything. This is the first major influx of funds this "orphan" disease has had, so all power to it.

I love the look on Chloe's face in the bookstore -- such wide eyes; she is taking everything in!

54ChelleBearss
Sep 2, 2014, 6:20 pm

49 Thanks Rhian! The lamb is the poor man's version of the teething toy Sophie the Giraffe. I refused to pay $25 for a squeaky toy but someone gave Chloe the lamb and she seems to like nibbling on it.

50 Thanks Kim! I love that Chloe has hair that I can pin up because unfortunately she is like her mommy and hates to wear head bands! She can only wear so much pink clothing and without she looks like a boy, like most babies do.

51 Thanks Judy! Yes, I think she is going to be a terror like her mommy was! My mom still tells stories of me as a child running down the sidewalk with just a diaper after I managed to get the front door open. Mom didn't much care to chase me with my infant sister in her arms!

52 I know Lori, time is just getting away from me already! Soon enough she will be talking, walking and taking over the house! lol

53 Hi Suz! Yes, ALS is terrible but not widely known. I was happy to make my donation and begrudgingly dumped the ice water on myself much to Nate's amusement!
No anniversary gift this year. A trip back home to Ontario next week is our gift to each other. We aren't big on celebrating but his mother sent us movie and dinner gift certificates to use when we visit and has offered to baby-sit! Score :)

Hi Friends! Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!! It's been a busy one here at Casa Bear as we leave for our trip to Ontario in a couple days so I've been mass cleaning and packing around taking care of the child! We are very much looking forward to our trip home though!

I finished a book as well, Stephen King's Mr Mercedes. As much as I did enjoy this it wasn't really a typical King book. Either he is trying something new or he is losing his creepy touch. It was an enjoyable book but not really what I expect to get when I buy a King book.

Thanks Nancy! I almost cried yesterday when I packed up all her clothes that she has grown out of. She is wearing a 6 month onesie today!! *sigh*

Hi Chelle! Finally got a second to stop by for a visit only to see how much time has passed and how little Chloe has grown! Sooo beautiful too. Glad to see she's entered the wonderful world of books and it looks like she enjoyed it. My son mentioned to me the other day that he thinks the reason enjoys traveling and history so much is because of the Disney around the world books I subscribed to when he was little.
You just never know what sticks with little kids.

HI Friends
Sorry I've been awol again. We got home from our wonderful vacation and Chloe and I have both gotten sick. Poor dear is dealing with her first cold as well as possible but she is also dealing with jet lag as there was a measly one hour difference and she hasn't adapted back yet. Which has meant mom and dad up with her in the night and since I'm sick I've been dragging my butt through each day. Hopefully by next week we will all be healthy again!

In my LT absence I've read:
36) Visions by Kelley Armstrong
37) The King of Lies by John Hart
38) Unlucky 13 by James Patterson

And I'm about to start The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling)

Hope everyone is well!!

Hi Chelle! Sorry to hear about the cold. Boo! Hope it is history or about to be. I am sorry, the King book was a disappointment. He has been on a pretty good roll, these past few years.
Hope the week goes well. Give Dear Chloe a HUG from us!

How are you doing Chelle?? Congrats on reaching that wonderful 3 month milestone. Glad to hear that you are able to find some time for yourself and read. That must be a sanity saver, speaking from experience of course. ;)

PS - Hope you and Chloe feel better soon. Babes and colds are such a nasty business.

Hi Friends!!
Sorry I haven't been around at all ( I keep repeating myself ...) but life is hectic.
We have put our house up for sale and we are moving back home!! Nate is in the final stages of his application with the provincial police and he is leaving the military next month! I am so excited to be moving home.
Needless to say with our house up for sale and having a five month old I don't have much time for anything. I've been reading the same book for almost a month. I'm trying to work my way through Ken Follett's Century Trilogy as I bought the final book but they are each 1000 pages! I'm 2/3 through the first one.

Here are some of Chloe's latest photos! She is getting so big! Sitting up by herself, wanting to hold her own spoon and bottle and scootching her way across her mat and the dreaded teething monster hit this week!

Nov 14, 2014, 8:33 pm

Oh my gosh!!!! She is so stinking cute!! Gahh, I'm surprised you get ANY reading done with that cutey around.
Yay for moving back home. Will you be closer to family then? Sorry my brain is really bad but where would home be again?

Busy times for you Chelle but moving back home and closer to family and friends must be very exciting! It is amazing how quickly the little ones grow, isn't it? Chloe is as adorable as ever.

Hey Chelle! Chloe is downright, without a question, ADORABLE!
Best of luck on the sale of your home and your move back home. I bet everyone is so happy to have all of you back on the mainland.
Good luck to the Dashing Daddy too regarding the final stages of his app.

I came here for a Chloe fix and find the good news that you are moving back home. I know you will miss your house and the beautiful surrounding landscape but it will be so helpful to be back with family. You will be super busy in the next few months. I wish you, Nate, and Chloe all the best in the transition, Chelle! Keep us posted. A bit of unsolicited advice -- you might want to read shorter books than the Follett series while all this is going on! Haha.

Hi Friends!!

We are all moved in here in Ontario! Our furniture arrived today and we have most of our day to day boxes unpacked and our little apartment space set up. Most of our stuff is in storage until we get our house in the spring.
Chloe was an angel on the trip home and relatively good since, even though she is just as tired as her mom and dad!
Family Christmas parties start tomorrow and lots of stuff to do before Christmas arrives!

Hope you all are having a happy holiday season and wish you all a Merry Christmas in case I can't make it to your threads before Christmas.
