Modern uses of myth

I am curious what others think of current stories that draw on Greek mythology. Rick Riordan's work comes to mind as well as the new series Atlantis. Somebody might convince me that Atlantis has value, but it would be a hard sell. Riordan's novels on the other hand have sparked real interest in the mythology among his readers.
Thoughts?

I've not read either the Riordan series or the Atlantis series, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the use of myth in Megan Whalen Turner's "Queen's Thief" series. It's similar to Greek and Mesopotamian mythos and legends, but she creates her own specifics. Still, recognisable and fitted into the story in a similar way as tales based on Greek myths.

Riordan is fun! For a slightly older crowd, the Iron Druid series draws heavily on Celtic and Greek mythologies and dips into other cultures from time to time. I don't have enough knowledge of the fan base to say if it's drawn people to the original sources.

There are surprising number of movies and k=books based on myth that people don't recognize. The movie "Avatar" was a classic portrayal of mother Gaea and her war against her sons (and husband) the sky people (Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter). All dystopia works are based on the idea of a lost utopia, which was prevaent in the lost Golden Age of Saturn and which Plato tried to replicate in his "Republic" And of course, the "Hero's Quest" paradigm is the basic blueprint from which ever American film is made. It comes directly from the Perseus story which is loosely portrayed in "Clash of Titans."
