How often does Reada Thing happen on LT?

Whenever someone has the time and energy to run one. And when there's sufficient mass of requests, sometimes the time and energy show up...

I could probably do one in early August or early September, but not right now. If anyone else wants to do one, I can give you the info and tools you'd need (spreadsheet for timeline, mostly).

I should say, if interest is expressed I could do one in a month or two. Anyone else looking for a RaT?

I won't be able to help out any time soon. We are gearing up for elections (I'm a poll worker, clerk, early voter clerk and trainer of poll workers for all of those) so will be busy the rest of this month, and essentially all of August and September until after the November elections. Especially as I work the two weeks of early voting for both our August Primary and the two weeks of early voting before the Nov 7 th election.

November and December are looking pretty good though.

Oof! I work the elections - precinct coordinator for the first time this past June. But yeah, the prep jobs cover a lot more time. I won't be busy with it until late October, probably.

I've never even participated in one, so volunteering is not possible at this time! I thought that maybe there was a schedule, like every quarter, etc. I will keep my eyes posted!

>6 Tess_W:
It used to be a more regular thing, but now is more ad hoc.

I usually do a personal shorter Readathon (a long weekend rather than a whole week) around September 11th. I could organize a ReadaThing around then if people are interested . . . maybe Thurdsay September 11 - Sunday September 14?) I don't have the time/energy for the longer ones any more (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

I'll keep my eye on this space, but also feel free to PM me with interest and/or questions/suggestions.

Aside of right now, because I'm too invested in the web game I play (there's the annual festival going on atm lol), I'm pretty much game for whenever.

I'm pretty sure in the discussion after the last time most folks thought longer was better as it gave more varied times for people to read, but trying it out won't hurt. I'm not sure where time/energy comes into play, though, since you only read whenever you have the free time and feel like doing so; I thought the point was just to kind of try to motivate a little to finish some books and have fun doing a group thing? So if, for instance, you were to read a bunch of hours in the first 3 days, then others could try picking up more hours in the next 3, or what have you...? Is that not the idea?

I meant the time/energy to organize and keep track of it. I'm the only one of the three people who've organized the last few ReadaThings that is available to do one this fall . . . unless you are volunteering PolymathicMonkey, then by all means have a longer one. I'm just saying that if I'm going to volunteer to organize and keep track of questions/problems with the wiki, etc. I can only do that for a few days.

Ahhh I see. :) Well I have no problem helping out! I wouldn't want to offer to completely run one, being still newer to ReadaThings, so I don't feel familiar enough to take on the role solo, haha, but I'd be happy to assist with anything at all that needs doing! :)
