Just a clarification - this group is only for books by women, and not also books about women? For example, Twice Toward Justice is a nonfiction YA book about female civil rights activist Claudette Colvin but is written by a male author - so a no-no here? Just checking to see that I understand the parameters ...

I think discussing books by men will happen spontaneously in any conversation about books that is broad and long enough--after all, comparisons and references come up all the time.

I'd say it's more that the group's emphasis ought to be literature by women, but that doesn't mean, in my view, absolute exclusion of any mention of literature by men, especially if one is making some kind of connection etc.
