Change to "Recent Member-uploaded Covers for Your Books"

Member anglemark recently reported that his "Recent Member-uploaded Covers for Your Books" included covers he was already using.

Indeed it did. But the covers hadn't been chosen by him; they were coming in as the LT-picked "best cover" for ISBNs he had chosen. Some people may want to see these--so they can explicitly choose these covers, and never have them "go away." Most will be confused why LibraryThing is telling them about something they're already seeing.

So I added a simple option, available by the "edit" pencil on "Recent Member-uploaded Covers for Your Books." If you want to see those covers, turn it on. By default it's off and those covers are hidden.

Thanks! Now that I know what it's all about, I probably want to see them. However, it's a hassle picking them explicitly from the lightbox. Can't there be a "Confirm this cover" link to click in the lightbox?

Okay, I've added that as a feature. Example:



See the "Confirm" option up top, and the "Note" down at the bottom.

Are those books ones that have a Best Cover from LT, or have you chosen that cover? I don't see them in your Member-uploaded cover, best-guess for ISBN list - check Stats/Memes, Book Covers. The confirmation only shows up on the best-guess covers - you have 123 of them, so you should be seeing some if you go through covers for a while. And did you set that new option (from the OP) to On, so those best-guess covers will show up?

For covers that aren't best-guess, it's still the same, with Choose this cover - what you're seeing. So even if you have a best-guess cover on a book, if the cover that's currently being offered isn't that one it won't have the Confirm option.

ETA I haven't seen it yet either - but then I only have three Best-guess covers, so I suspect it will be a while before one shows up.

How does one even access that feature?

If it's nowhere else - if you've removed it from all the other pages - it's in Unused. I don't think anything starts off there.

Why are no new covers dated July 2014 appearing on Recent Member-uploaded Covers for Your Books.

6 years ago we were flying back to Austria from Iceland on the night of the European cup final. Total chaos at check-in as the airlines couldn't get their data. The web was totally overloaded.

Anyway Brazil is over now. Good game!
