FI is on Via Zamboni just off the central square. Feltrinelli is the Borders of Italy. There is also a Feltrinelli in Bolgna; however, you need to go to FI for English books. This the only place I found in Bologna where you can buy the Sunday New York Times.

Nemoman, I would rather compare it to Barnes & Noble, which I prefer to Borders.

I believe there is at least one Feltrinelli in every city in Italy, and probably in most larger towns. I believe in my hometown, Genova, there are at least two. One of them, many many years ago, was my favourite bookstore when I was a university student.

Aluvalibri: I find the two chains fairly similar. Having said that there seems to be a lot more variability in Borders stores in the area of size and selection. For example, the downtown San Diego Borders is quite small in contrast with those in the burbs. In contrast the Borders off Union Square in San Francisco is huge and has the feel of an independent bookstore. I made Borders my default destination for most new books because they had a free awards cards, whereas Barnes & Nobel required payment to join a club. In any event I am addicted to the Sunday NYT and my biggest challenge in traveling is finding it. The International Herald Tribune is fine but takes only five minutes to read.

See this thread for reasons why the Borders Rewards program no longer makes economic sense.
