...I have had only good experiences as a whole with Paperbackswap.com . In fact I trade a lot of books there. I sent out 40 books this past week.

I am looking for advice on the other trade sites listed on Library Thing.

Here are the sites that have a link on Library thing:

PaperBackSwap -- Yes Love it.

Swap.com

Bookmooch -- (This thread is not going to be about my frustration with this site. Good trade site when it works. No fun when problems come up.)

Bimbambim

BoekenRuilen

Bookins

BooksfreeSwap

Bookswapper.de

Readers United

ReadItSwapIt

swapclub.co.nz

SwapThing

Title Trader

WhatsOnMyBookshelf?

Any comments on any of these sites is welcome and appreciated...

Are there other sites I should explore outside of this list?

I am trying to lead our small collective towards leveraging books for the greater good of our neighborhoods: https://www.facebook.com/LAIC.BookCollective/info

Any Advice is welcome.

ps. We have a desperate need for Spanish / English Dictionaries. Especially Ones with pictures that empower new language learners to learn English.

You can check this site, whether the venues for exchange of books in USA is nearest to your home.

I think you have to do personally to do the book swapping. This is something NEW .

It is happening in my country about "twice" per year at the central library-headquarter, one-for-one exchange basis.

You surrender or barter your old, unwanted, good-readable condition books, you will receive an exchange or redemption "coupon" for each book given. On the appointed dates, I have to visit the central library, and select books available for selection. In this exercise, few thousand books about as much as 20,000 to 30,000 titles available for grabs.

(These are happening in 19 countries)

I see that you are located in Los Angeles, so I think you can probably cross BoekenRuilen (in the Netherlands), Bookswapper.de (in Germany), and swapclub.co.nz (in New Zealand) off your list, as the postage involved would make the process uneconomical.

There is one book swapping meetup group in LA.

It is a new one. Next meeting 25 Jan 2014.

It is a social circle of book readers.

There are actually several book-swapping meetup Groups in LA. Check in the internet.

This sounds like a wonderful opportunity. Community sharing taken to a whole different level. Fun! Thanks!

I find that I frequently find books that people are wishing for on Paperbackswap.com . I will soon have close to 250 points on that site. I am confident I will find books useful to our group and community. I really wish there were other trade sites that shined in my heart as brightly as this one.

I really love the idea of direct and local.

I also trade books at some local bookstores in LA. Maybe I should post a list of places where the credit has been helpful... and open up the idea of trade to local used bookstores as well.

I am still looking for additional avenues for trade. Thanks for the meet up connection. Been busy sadly with deaths in my family... so I will try one when time is more available.

Now over 285 on Paperbackswap.com and very happy with this website.

I am done with Bookmooch... and would not recommend it to anyone in my network of friends... hope it goes well with others...
