I chose a Kobo because I live abroad and Kindle etc. are very restrictive about where you can order ebooks from. I'm very glad I did. The front light on the Kobo Glo is much easier on my eyes than reading off a tablet.

I received a Kobo Glo as a Christmas present. It's my favourite reader (I have a Sony and a Kindle also).

After long research I decided to get a Kobo Glow, because of the build-in light. And I dont regret that choise for a minute.

Mainly their epub support, and the fact that it works as a USB mass storage device on any OS (I use Linux primarily) and so didn't force me into signing up to their online shenanigans. :-)
I've got a Kobo Mini. I love the thing! Mainly use it for proofreading Wikisource novels.

I picked the Kobo Glo because at that time, it was one of the best e-readers available, and the other 'candidate' (Sony T2) was more expensive AND had no light. I didn't/don't want a Kindle because of amazon issues.
I love my Glo and use it all the time! :-)

I chose a Kobo Touch because I didn't want to be restricted to Amazon, and wanted to borrow from my local public library via Overdrive.
