This is a thread in order to discuss the book Blood Rites as well as the books that came before since the books aren't open ended and each one builds upon the characters & main plot.

Okay. I couldn't wait to read this book so I pretty much skimmed it and read the ending.=) Am I bad or what?lol.

In this book, we learn more about Thomas and the White Court, especially his family. We also learn that Thomas and Harry have something in common that is a real shock to Harry.

Anyways, basically Thomas comes to Harry asking him to help out an acquaintance of his. Seems that someone is trying to kill his friend and he wants Harry to investigate more on this matter.

SPOILERS ahead

I was really sad about Justine. Poor Thomas! To know that he caused her condition, but she knew what would happen too. That scene where she tells Harry to tell Thomas she loves him was so sad. She knew that she wouldn't be coming back in her right mind and all.=( And not only that, but Thomas gets kicked out of the Raith family because of his dad. At least he has Harry as family now. But I wasn't expecting to find out what I did about Harry's mom. Wow, it just keeps on getting interesting! She was involved with demons (and the Fallen too? Didn't Nicodemus in Death Masks mention his mother, knowing her or about her?) and now vamps...and who knows what else!

I just polished off Blood Rites. Interesting about Harry and Thomas. And the sigil on Harry's palm.

The edition of the book I have was very badly proofed. If I were the least little bit obsessive/compulsive, I'd red pencil the book and send it back to the publisher.

And naming a grey dog Mouse . . . don't be silly. Everyone knows that Mouse is a white cat with green eyes. Just ask her. She'll tell you.

SO just how big is mouse going to be?

Thomas buys Large Breed puppy food for it on at least one occasion, so I reckon we're talking pretty damm big.

#4 - Well it was a guard dog, so who knows how huge. Any speculations on the breed? I'm guessing maybe a Sharpei?

#3 - I thought the part with the sigil was a creepy twist. Is that going to be the temptation that the Fallen offers him? The ability to keep his hand? Definitely intrigued as to there this is all leading!

#5 - well in later books we do get told the breed. Apparently he's a Temple Dog breed. That shouldn't be a spoiler for anything that I'm aware of.... although it doesn't help much either.

For the sigil stuff you'll just have to read through to at least White night, there's nothing I can say here that won't spoil the next couple books, other than it is intriguing!
