Trying to catalog book into my library.
Title: A Collection of Folklore from Soddy, Tennessee.
ISBN: 978-1-935186-22-9.
LC Control Number: 2011908971.
Second Printing.
Published: ?
Copyright: 1966
Publisher: Waldenhouse Publishers, Inc.
I thought that with the ISBN and the LC numbers, LibraryThing would have no trouble finding this during the add-a-book process. Where am I going wrong?
Tom Williams.

What source are you using to add the book? It may not be in Amazon. Or in the public library catalogues. Try using other sources.

If not, you may' have to add book manually - look for the link at the bottom of the add book page.

Thanks for the response. I have tried a search in all the available sources, so I will add the book manually. I am still surprised that with both the ISBN and the LC numbers a search was not successful. I guess I still don't know exactly how the search is supposed to work. Thanks, again, for your suggestions.
Tom.

3: Actually very few libraries will search ISBN or LC number in response to a Z39 protocol query (which is how libraries let each other search their catalogs. Library of Congress is particular limited in what search queries it responds to. I recommend re-searching by title in Library of Congress (though adding manually is also fine)

I did as you suggested regarding a re-search by title in the Library of Congress, but, no luck, again. Thanks for your input.
Tom.

With a 978 ISBN number and a copyright of 1966, it must be a reprint or some mistake has been made.

It's a reprint: http://www.waldenhouse.com/aa_A%20Collection%20of%20Folklore%20From%20Soddy.html

The "publisher" isn't really: http://www.waldenhouse.com/publishing.htm which may explain why the book isn't found in any libraries. And, boy, I wouldn't trust their "professional services to edit, produce and publish your work", not when their website tells me I can "distribue" {sic} my books!

It's possible that they didn't actually submit the CIP (Cataloging in Publication) or didn't do it correctly which would explain the LC card number but no entry on Library of Congress.

Thanks, again, for all the responses. I have forwarded a transcription of them to the author so that, if she wishes, she can check with her publisher to see if some corrections need to be made to the process they followed to have the book properly registered, if that is the correct term for ensuring that the ISBN and LC numbers were attached to this book.
