Well, I just found this group. So far, I've read 47 books in 2012 (in the 50 Challenge Group), and I think I have a pretty good distribution by author's surnames. Hopefully, I can finish the alpha challenge (and my goal of 50 books) by December 31, and then start over for 2013.

Here are the 2012 books I've read and chosen to meet this challenge:

A. Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad

B. Anita Brookner, Making Things Better

C. Kate Chopin, The Awakening

D. Theodore Dreiser, Sister Carrie Surprisingly, I loved this.

E. Joseph Epstein, Narcissus Leaves the Pool

F. Jasper Fforde, The Eyre Affair

G. Graham Greene, The End of the Affair

H. Linda Lawrence Hunt, Bold Spirit A very interesting history of an unusual woman.

I. Eugene Ionesco, Rhinoceros

J. P. D. James, Death Comes to Pemberley Didn't live up to the hype.

K. Harry Kemelman, Monday the Rabbi Took Off

L. Yiyun Li, Gold Boy, Emerald Girl Amazing stories

M. Christopher Morley, Parnassus on Wheels

N.

O. Peter Orner, Love and Shame and Love Great Chicago setting; so-so story.

P. Margaret Powell, Below Stairs The REAL world of Upstairs, Downstairs.

Q.

R. Ann Radcliffe, The Italian I really wanted to enjoy this, but I found it boring.

S. Patricia Ann Meyer Spacks, On Rereading Academic topic, but accessible reading; made me want to read over some of my favorite books again and again.

T. Anthony Trollope, I read 6 Trollope works this year; probably The Last Chronicle of Barset was my favorite.

U.

V. John Vaillant, The Tiger Surprisingly entertaining book about Siberian tigers.

W. Robert Penn Warren, All the King's Men

X.

Y. Anzia Yezierska, The Bread Givers Life in NYC for new Jewish immigrants, circa 1900. One of the few such novels written by a woman.

Z. Markus Zusak, The Book Thief An outstanding book. If you haven't read it, here's your opportunity to read a "Z" author.

So I need to find N, Q, U and X authors before December 31....wish me luck!

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I actually read these throughout the year of 2012. I just discovered the group in December, so I posted everything that fit at one time. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get to the missing letters this year. I might do this again next year, and see if I can get closer to all 26 letters.
