I have a copy of Nyla and the White Crocodile, but my copy does not match the stats on the page. The page shows a different publication date and company, and mine is a hardback while the stats read paperback. If I edit the information under "Edit your book", will that only change the information associated with my copy, or will that change it for everyone?

It will only change your edition; go ahead and fix it all up so it matches perfectly.
Did you add the book through the ISBN - usually that gives correct data, but it also depends on the source you used and how accurate it is. I think the ISBN must be wrong too...
Hope this helps...

Mine actually doesn't have an ISBN, but it does have a library of congress number. I tried that, instead, but nothing turned up. The 1978 version seems to drown it out.
Thank you for your time!

Ahhh... then a manual add will be the way to go...
Annoying perhaps, but accurate.
Or just edit the one now in your catalogue.

Also choosing source libraries carefully might help*. Avoid Amazon (while no doubt potentially useful if you want to buy a book, it's mainly a source of ratty info when you're cataloguing), "OverCat" is nice for books already on LT somehow, rest: hugely dependent on what you're looking for.
* Don't mean to imply you didn't.

(Sorry about the fuzziness, I uploaded .png and somehow got .jpg!)

Hi Rozax, Please post/provide the publisher info, date published as indicated by your edition of the book and since you have it, the LOC number as well. Methinks you should try searching either the WorldCat or LOC websites (your local public library and college catalogs are also possible resources) for cataloging info for the edition you have. Anyway, happy to help you locate (if it exists) info specific to your edition.

Here's my method when the edition I want doesn't show up in the Library of Congress, Overcat or a few of my other top library sources. Fair warning: for this book it doesn't work.
Go to WorldCat.
Click "Advanced Search" in the search box.
Enter sufficient info to identify your edition (in this case title and pub. date) and search.
Click the title of your edition in the result list.
In the "Find a copy in the library" section click the "just this edition" link on the right-hand side.
You now have a list of libraries that have your edition.
Go to LT's Add books page, click "All 700 available sources" and try to find one of the libraries identified in the WorldCat search.
And here it breaks down in this case. None of the libraries that hold your edition are available as LT sources. So you can either manually add the book or add the wrong edition and edit. I often choose the latter because only some of the data changes between editions and it's less typing than the full manual add.

Plus adding from a library source will pull in other MARC fields such as subject headings and call letters to your catalog entry that apply to all editions.

7> LOL. Also, I'd say it was surprisingly effective - not for finding this book, but finding anything at all surprised me!

How do you add a roll-over summary of your book? It comes from the Book Description, but this does not look editable on the book's main page.

This is a nine year old topic on a different subject.
It is not clear what you want.
Book descriptions on the main page can be flagged or thumbed on the description page (left hand menu of the main page). You can also add a member's description, but if you do it should be YOUR description and not copied from anywhere else.

>14 MarthaJeanne: Pretty sure the person means the hover pop up when you mouse over a title.
>13 RLShuster: Your right, book description isn't editable; but as >14 MarthaJeanne: mentioned, you can add your own description. That doesn't override the other book descriptions or lackthereof. There's a post about this feature here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/310208
