i just heard Alison Krauss' bluegrassy/jazzy rendition of "Oh, Atlanta" -- very nice!
Oh Atlanta
I hear you calling
I'm coming back to you
One fine day
Hey!
Don't need to worry
There ain't no hurries
Oh, Atlanta!
Any other Atlanta song favorites? (or Georgia?)

I'll go with the obvious 'Georgia On My Mind.' When I was growing up in southern Georgia we always knew we'd stayed up too late whenever this song would play to end the programming day on the PBS station.

That's so great that you remember that sign-off! That's one of my fondest memories of growing up without cable television - we didn't have it until high school and we could only get six channels. Saturday nights were all about 'Dr. Who' at 10p, an hour of 'Monty Python' at 11p, followed by that sign-off on channel 8. Thanks for reminding me!

I like John Mayer's "Why? Georgia Why?" I think that's the right title.

"The Night Atlanta Burned" is a great album by Chet Atkins. It's not on CD, but I ripped the LP a few years ago.
You gotta hear Marty Balin's song "Atlanta Lady" from the disco era. It's sweet!

(Hello. I'm new to this group.)
Chances are, you've never heard of him, but Atlanta's own guitar-slinging soul singer Anthony David has a couple of songs about his hometown. "GA Peaches" and "ATL Sunshine."
And lest we forget, there's always Jermaine Dupri's "Welcome To Atlanta."
