For Guy Kay fans

Interesting! I have always loved (and still prefer) Martin Springett's beautiful covers for the Fionavar books, and I have a set of prints of the three covers he did that I got at a con where he was artist GOH. However, some of the other covers are nice.

The first time I read The Summer Tree, over 20 years ago now, the cover was the Springett one, so that's the one I associate with the book and is my favourite. But I just happened to see the Wurtz and Maitz covers for the first time at the book store a few days ago and they were definitely eye catching.

The Fionavar series is definitely my favourite! I dislike the first cover shown, the second is the one I own, and I rather like it. I also really like the French cover, by Jacques Lamontagne.

Interesting article. My copy of Summer Tree was bought in late 80s and just has a square of the first cover on it, though I've seen the full cover. I like that one a lot. I'm not a fan of cover 2 and 3. But I must admit to finding the French cover very arresting. An image of the sacrifices that are at the centre of the trilogy.
And it's still my favourite of his work. Tigana is a close second. Though I'd probably read a cereal packet written by him!!

I love the first and the third covers, especially the triptych of the third set of covers. I would have that on my wall! I like that both these cover styles represent the spirit and themes of the whole book, rather than one specific incident.
