The cover and cover blurb (real word - I checked in Wikipedia) of Dodger - Terry's next book after the Long Earth has been revealed:

"In an alternative London, ruled by the young Queen Victoria, an enterprising lad can find adventure and opportunity - if he is very smart, and very, very lucky. Dodger has the brains, the luck - and the cheek - to scrape by on his own.

Everyone knows Dodger, and everyone likes Dodger. Which is a good thing, because life for a boy on the streets is anything but easy.
And it's about to get seriously complicated as a simple haircut turns momentous when Dodger unknowingly puts a stop to the murderous barber Sweeney Todd.

From Dodger's encounters with fictional villains to his meetings with Darwin, Disraeli, and Dickens, history and fantasy intertwine in a breathtaking tale of adventure and mystery, unexpected coming-of-age, and one remarkable boy's rise in a complex and fascinating world.

Beloved and bestselling author Terry Pratchett writes at the height of his powers, combining high comedy with deep wisdom, to the delight of fans old and new."

It is exciting news! We get two PTerry books this year. I can't wait. :)

Hopefully, next year we'll be back to Discworld. Lots more stories there.

This now out in the UK. Amazon have despatched my copy and I have seen copies on the shelves of my local W.H. Smith.

Although there's something slightly sad and ironic about the publicity saying that Pterry is "writing at the peak of his powers". Love it to be true, but ...

I'm not sure how many different editions there are but the copy I saw in W.H. Smith has it as a limited edition with an extra scene whilst today I saw it in my local Tesco as a limited edition which has exclusive postcards. No mention of any special bits though on the amazon (UK) site.

I am amazed, just saw this "new" book mentioned here, went to my local bookshop. AND now I own it.
Although when I will read it is another matter :-)

Received my copy today and it appears to be devoid of any specials.

I've got a hold of a copy, but am going to finish rereading I Shall Wear Midnight first.

Anyone got any info' on TP's Unseen Library editions? Very smart quarter bound, where do they come from? I was just given one as a present. It's made all my tatty old much loved TP paperbacks look a bit down an' out.

Having just finished Dodger, can anyone clue me in on how it connects to the alternate history in Nation, other than the time period? Pterry's epilogue mentions bending the timeline a bit but nothing so off-branch as it seems to me Nation was. Also, and again, if this can be done without spoilers, who's the white-haired gentleman referred to several times at the end (say no more, say no more).

9 - The Unseen Library Editions that I am aware of were originally produced for Book Club Associates. BCA were a mail-order membership based bookseller in the UK. The majority of their books were reprinted into a standard size and format for BCA although at times they did sell the published versions or as in this case special editions. I was a member for a number of years and collected the first 15 of the UL editions but had some problems with the company and eventually stopped ordering from them.

Thanks dfm. So there's at least 15 out there. If it were a set of 5 or so I was going after maybe getting them. But they don't look like they come cheap so might just content myself with the one I have. But I will keep my eyes peeled, YNK.
