Battle Royale

Battle Royale has been getting a lot more attention due to The Hunger Games. When The Hunger Games was originally published there were controversies that it was plagiarized from Battle Royale. So for those who love The Hunger Games, maybe you should check out Battle Royale (although please note that the manga is rated M and the movie 18A). Battle Royale is a manga, novel and movie.

Has anyone read the manga or novel or watched the movie for Battle Royale? I’ve only read up to book 6 of the manga, but I’m hoping to finish it this summer. For those who have read and watched it, how would you compare the manga/novel to the movie? I think I’ll get the Complete Collection instead of just buying the movie. However, I really prefer the cover art of the movie.

The novel is on my wishlist. I'll have to bump it up so I can comment on it! I have noticed that it's become easier to find in shops since The hunger games became popular.

I've read the novel and seen the movie. Loved both. The film resides in my top ten all-time favourites list though the sequel is probably best avoided. Haven't read the manga though. Haven't had any involvement with The Hunger Games as yet so can't say how they compare but the books do reside on my tbr shelves so I will get to them at some point.

When I first learned of the premise for The Hunger Games, I immediately thought of Battle Royale, though I admit that I've yet to read either.

The Hunger Games is also on my tbr list. I'm hoping to finish reading Battle Royale before reading The Hunger Games, and then I would like to see the movie.

For the Battle Royale movie, is it better to buy the complete collection which includes Battle Royale II, or is it just a waste of money, and buying the regular movie is better?
