Since middle school when I was first forced to criticize, analyze, compare, and contrast your many stories I had carried on a love/hate relationship with you. It wasn't until a few years ago when I was finally free from the constraints of English class that I was able to read your masterpieces without having to dissect them. I am thankful that I stuck by you and I have been rewarded with works from a true genius.

Happy Birthday, Charles Dickens!

I will forever be thankful for Oliver Twist, Nell Trent, Ebenezer Scrooge, Pip, Sydney Carton, and all of your characters that I have formed an attachment to.

Dickens 2012.

Letter to Charles Dickens.

I didn't know a thing about the anniversary when I decided I was going to read all of his major novels that interested me and started The Pickwick Papers last year. Good timing - and extra motivation, not that I needed it.
