I have a sense of humour

I read Douglas Adams and I find the odd book that is funny too but does humor work in books? is it best to have a face to put to it?
any suggestions for some humor based books?

Are you asking if humor works in fiction? Absolutely! Just pick up anything by Thomas Pynchon, Kurt Vonnegut, or George Saunders for meaningful prose that is often hilarious.

If you mean, Can the written word by itself be funny?, the answer again is yes. A lot of funny people have put out very funny books. Penn Jillette's God, No is the last really good one I read.
