Whatever happened to H. R Wakefield?

Wonder what happened to this guy? Once upon a time, at least one of his stories would appear in every classic ghost anthology. Has he fallen completely out of fashion???

Wow, I've never heard of him – is there a comparable author?

We were talking about him recently in the Weird Tradition group, and a collection of his work is on my to-snag list for my next visit to the public library.

A new name for me as well. I'll go and have a rummage for this chap.
