I purchased a book called Tales from the Woods by Felix Dennis on Saturday afternoon and by the end of my flight to Sweden on Sunday afternoon (with a large chunk spent at Schipol) I had read it though twice! and absolutely adored it. Has anyone else read this man's work? and was anyone else surprised that this poet is one of the richest men in England??

I think the surprise, Ruth, is that one of England's richest men is also a poet. Dennis has had an eventful career, but for my generation (which is also his), his moment of true fame came with the Oz trial, when he took on - and eventually defeated - oppressive forces of reaction. The richness which followed was a nice irony, and even just a year or two back one of his old legal enemies was still sniping - and losing.

Hello Affle,
Dennis is definitely an interesting character. I listened to him on Desert Island Discs (available to hear on his website) and heard about the Oz trial. When I'm back in Blighty I shall be looking up more of his work.
