Writing Buddies, Anyone?

Hi, All ~ I know it's still early but I thought I'd start a writing buddies thread in case anyone is interested.

I never need any buddies, myself, but I'm always willing to be one. In practice, it seems that most of the people who buddy with me drop out somewhere along the line. I hope it's not my doing. :-)

I'm Catana on NaNo. Have been doing it since 2006. Going for my third win this year. Favorite genre: science fiction.

I have the same user name, maurice, on Nanowrimo and I'm open to new writing buddies.

I'm always open for writing buddies. I don't think I'm a terribly good buddy though. I tend to get very self centered during Nano, doing it all for myself. But you are free to add me and I'll do my best!

I'm Tipsister there as well. This will be NaNo #5 for me and I'm hoping to write a sequel to my 2008 novel (which I am still editing). We'll see how it goes!

I don't know if I'll be writing this year but I have two students who are committed to writing a novel as part of their Senior Project and I am mentoring them. Last year we had about 8 students participate and 3 met their challenge (one wrote 50,000 words). I, unfortunately, did not meet my challenge. You all have my fullest admiration and support! Learned this morning that a third student will be writing a novel for her Senior Project. This should be fun!

I buddied with a RL friend the first time I did NaNo, therefore am not really sure how the buddy system normally would work. But I'm game! I'm DocWood on NaNo.

#8 - writing buddies on NaNo mostly just get to see your ongoing wordcount. They can certainly write, and you can drop a note back, but how often anyone does it varies greatly by personal preferences.

i'm Brianjungwi over at nanowrimo. in it for my second year, reached 50k last year, trying sci fi this year. happy to buddy up with people =)

I'm 'BizzyLizzy' this is my second year and I'm writing a sequel to last years YA Sci-fi novel.

I had been undecided about taking part this year but suddenly I am excited and looking forward to it.

I don't send many messages to my buddies, but I do enjoy checking out people's word count on my Buddy List, it helps spur me on.

All new Buddies welcome! I have quite a few on my list already, some new, some from last year but I suspect many of them aren't doing it again this year. I will maybe do a cull a week or so in.

22 Thanks!! I have found from my experience of NaNoWriMo last year and in self publishing a novel that you really have to keep a sense of humor and the absurd, not only to persist but also to be creative :)

Thanks everybody who signed on as my writing buddies -- I had to drop out almost as soon as I started due to an illness in the family but I'll be back. Same time next year?

Same time next year, although since I volunteer as a precinct clerk for Florida elections, what with a presidential election year in 2012, I probably won't get started until after the first Tuesday of the month.
