I am reading the first book of a trilogy entitled over all The Writing on the Wall or The Transylvanian Trilogy by Miklos Banffy, the first book of which is They Were Counted. The book is set in 1905 Hungary, but is very reminiscent of Trollope in content and style--sort of a mix of Phineas Finn and The Way We Live Now. It follows upper class folks struggling with politics, duty, love, and money and is highly readable, with rather leisurely plot development. If you have run out of Trollope, this might fill the bill.

OT: To Marry An English Lord is finally being reprinted! Check amazon - I think its issue date is March 15. Thank you, Downton Abbey!

Well I will say what I think is the obvious. If you like Trollope, inthomk you would like Dickens.

Jo Walton's Tooth and Claw which is Framley Parsonage with ... um ... dragons. No, really it's very good.
