I used to read kids versions of the Holmes stories when I was in elementary school, and even had a copy of the Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes, the older edition with the hat and pipe on the cover. Watching Sherlock this last week has rather reawakened my love of Holmes and Watson, and I bought a copy of the Complete Sherlock Holmes in order to read all the stories in their original version. I'm working on starting a collection of sherlockiana, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of books I definitely need. The list already includes the following:
the Complete Sherlock Holmes
the New Annotated Sherlock Holmes
(the Sherlock Holmes Reference Library) in quotes as I'm still deciding whether or not to get this, or if the New annotated by itself shall suffice
the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
the Baker Street Reader: Cornerstone Writings about Sherlock Holmes
the Misadventures of Sherlock Holmes
the Seven-Per-Cent Solution
the Life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
the Encyclopaedia Sherlockiana
Starring Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street
The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes
Any suggestions of what to add to or leave off are greatly appreciated.

just look at my library.
there is very little under my 'Sherlock Holmes' tag which i would not recommend for the collector.
for the purest... well, that's a different subject. :)

The Martha Canfield Library is Arlington, Vermont, is having a program on "What makes Sherlock Holmes Great?" August 27th at 7 pm. The library website www.marthacanfieldlibrary.org has more information about the program on it's "Adult Programming" page. Sounds like a very interesting speaker.
