In the years since I was a teen author, I've been amazed (and envious!) at the opportunities for getting your stuff out there that have come along. I don't know how much you've looked into it, but http://www.lulu.com is a pretty great site for self-publishing. It's free if you want to just sell through their site, but you can purchase an ISBN (~$100 I think?) that will enable you to sell on Amazon and the like.

If you're willing to go the free route, there's also opportunities in e-books. As much as I personally prefer my fiction on paper and my reference in digital, there seems to be a growing audience that's willing to give e-books a try. My father runs a startup company that puts out free open-source e-book reading software (http://www.dotreader.com). He's mostly been doing non-fiction (textbooks, manuals, etc.) but he's happy to post fiction too under the "free books" section. If anyone's interested, drop me an e-mail (it's on my profile.)

Good luck!

I'm a ebook cover artist and know many self published authors who are able to make a living off of selling ebooks on Amazon. It's a 100% plausible career right now. If you're interested in publishing, it's free to do (though you'll do better if you hire an editor, cover artists, ad space, etc), and you can even do on demand printing though createspace which links directly to your amazon profile.
