(This is an old one, but it was posted buried in another thread and I was recently asked to update it for the new Talk. So I might as well have a post here.)

LibraryThing Group Links on Talk Page

Puts links to various groups down below the left sidebar.

It's quite unpolished, with no user-interface for changing the list of groups. You'll need to edit the script yourself to change them. It should be pretty straightforward.

Thanks. Simple to edit, and allows me to organize the groups and consolidate my bookmarks onto a single page.

Um - this seems to have stopped working, possibly because of updating to FF18 but more likely because of recent code changes (LT's gone down a couple times recently, for work). I could probably poke around and fix it for myself - may well do so, actually - but I thought you might like to know.

It is, by the way, an _incredibly_ useful script. It makes it so much easier to go to all my regular groups! Thanks a million.

Hmm, I updated to FF18 and it's working for me. You don't happen to be going to LT via https instead of http.

Huh. I am. No idea why... OK, let me try it straight.

And there's my list. How weird! Thanks, brightcopy.

Yeah, I knew to guess because I just updated to FF18, too. It seems to be directing me to https on sites sometimes when I NEVER go to https.

I installed this script into Chrome using TamperMonkey, but I must have done something wrong when I edited it to show my groups. It seemed just fine last night, but this morning when I opened up LT all of my groups were gone and it was showing your original list. So I guess I need some pointers on how to edit the list so it will stick.

Did you make sure to click the save button (disk icon) on the Tampermonkey editor? Apparently if you edit it, it will apply it even without you saving it. But eventually it will revert if you close your browser.

Hmm, I thought I did but I must not have. I'll have to try it again.

Well, I edited the script in TamperMonkey again, and this time it stuck even after a complete computer restart. I could have sworn I clicked the little save icon the first time, but I must not have.

And it's such a useful script! Thanks again.

Any time!

I've also toyed with a version that reads in your watched/joined groups and just uses that. But I decided I didn't like it as much since there are groups I don't want to watch/join but I want to post in occasionally (e.g. Combiners!).

Yeah. And I have a bunch I've watched/joined, but I almost never go there (usually because they're not very active) - my left-side list is a distillation of my joined list, not the complete thing.

Yes, I agree with both of you. I added a couple I'm not a member of, and left out a few that get very little traffic. The functionality as it is now works perfectly for me.
