It's always good to have a post once you've made a group!

Stephen Donaldson is one of my all time favourite authors, I've been reading him since I was in my early teens - possably not the most appropriate material for my age, but I enjoyed it. He has to be one of the slowest authors I've ever come across, writing a new book every 2+ years? Very annoying, although I would hate for the quality to decline, just to speed the process up.

I've not read his Reed Stephen ?books, though they are on the infinitely long list of books to get hold of.

My most favourite work is probably hard to pinpoint possable Reave the just but there are a lot of contenders. I'm not blown away by the Runes of the Earth.

About 20 years ago I read the first two trilogies of Thomas Covenant. I enjoyed most of them, although I think by the time I got to the second trilogy the bloom was off the rose, so to speak. I've never read a fantasy novel since. They didn't put me off, they just filled me up.

I have very bad psoriasis and when I look at it I think of two things, leprosy, which leads me to remember Thomas Covenant, Half-hand, and Deuteronomy and how glad I am that we, as a society have moved beyond condemning people for illness.

Donaldson is my favorite Fantasy author. He was in the Austin area several months ago, but my plans to meet him were overridden by a family emeregency.

Does anyone recall the term "Life-Blood"?

I swear that Banor used it several times referring to springwine or perhaps diamondraught. I've reread the first two trilogies, and didn't run across it. I use it to refer to coffee, but it's really bothering me that I may have "made up" this memory.

The doctor says I have too much blood in my caffeine system...

I'll admit to being on the cusp of 55. Some of my body parts are a lot older, it seems, and psychologically, I'm still a teen (at times). It all averages out, though....

))) I am 46, but my wife thinks I am a kid. What I like about Donaldson is that the quality of his writing is in my opinion of a far higher quality than many fantasy/science fiction writers. Also his conceptualisation of the Land is incredible. I remember being in tears when I first read The Wounded Land. I could not believe that earthpower could be so warped.

#3 Are you thinking of the Blood of the Earth that Elena drank for the Power of Command?

That's definitely not it. I found that passage (referred to as Earth Blood several times), and re-read it just to be sure. My recollection of it is of Banor saying it in Revelstone itself.

I just can't find it. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
