What was thr best book bought without reading a review - just because you saw it, liked the cover etc?

Music and Silence by Rose Tremain. Moreover, the bookseller tried to dissuade me from buying it.
One of my all-time favourite books.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I had no idea what I was getting into, and had only heard a vague reference to it a year before. It wasn't anything like I expected, but I loved it!

Holes by Louis Sachar
I needed something to read while I was hanging around waiting for kids, having left my current book at home. Popped into Woolworths and bought this a) because the name vaguely rang a bell and b) it had a lizard on the cover!
Turned out to be a great read with a nice twist.

Ghost Heart by R J Ellory
Saw it on sale for $5 and picked it up ......for some reason it just hit the spot for me....crime, deception, a bit of romance, a plot lasting 50 years.....
Thought it was great and since then I have gone on and bought all of Ellory's books and have enjoyed them all ...though admittedly some more than others!
