I wonder who will respond to this message. It's kind of quiet. In fact really quiet. I added a group picture, since it was missing one.

I certainly won't be responding.

I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not. I was never the best person deciphering sarcasm.

That's a nice picture. Where does it come from? I think it's a good choice for this group.

Gorgeous picture DragonFreak. That's from The White Dragon isn't it? I've read the first three Weyr books a few times already, but it's another series I'd like to reread soon. Moreta as well, which is one of my favorite Dragonrider books.

I'm not exactly sure where the picture came from, but that white dragon is definately Ruth. In fact, I can't really find the same one again. I thought about putting a picture of all of the Pern books, but I found this one and I thought it was perfect.

I only read 6 Pern books, but I'm eager to read more I can tell you that.

I have read and own all of them up to Dragonsblood, but I've lost momentum since Todd took over. Dragonsdawn is one of my favourites, and I love the Harper Hall books.

I've got most of the Anne Pern books, missing the last 2 or 3 though I've read them. The first one I read was Dragonsong, I think I was in high school. I so wanted to be in Menolly's shoes, impressing all those fire lizards. Actually, I would still love to impress one. My favorite part in the books is when the eggs hatch. I never get tired of reading about it, even though it's in all the books.

I understand 'Dragonsong' is part of the curriculum in some schools, not sure which grade. I think 'Lucky kids', but then I worry it'll become one of those books that get overanalyzed and the kids come to hate.

I have not read any of Todd's books, so I'll have my opinion on him when I or if I ever get there. But I want to buy Dragonsinger/Dragonsong/Dragondrums next, but I've been procrastinating buying them, and I really shouldn't do that anymore. Should look right now.

About Dragonsong being part of the cirriculum, I should look into that.

I've read all the Pern series as well as the original Acorna series and the crystal singer trilogy, but the pern ones are my favourite. The first one I read was dragonsong when I was about 8/9 and I loved it, I think my favourite ones are the masterharper of pern and the white dragon. I quite like the new ones by Todd, but feel they lack something compared to the originals...?

Maybe the reason no one likes Todd is because we humans naturally don't like change...? I don't know. But so far The White Dragon is my favorite. I don't why about everyone else, but Ruth made that book, and he's my favorite dragon in that whole series.

Hey all, I'm new and love the McCaffrey books. The white dragon pic is really neat! Ruth is my favorite dragon as well. I've read all of Anne's books in this series but haven't gotten any of Todd's yet. I'm so behind already on all the books I have collected but I am keeping my eye out for a good price so I can continue the saga.

By the way, I didn't know that Anne M. had died either but it's been a while since I was on her website.

So glad to find this group.

I'm so glad to hear that - I did pop on her website a few minutes ago and was relieved to see that there were no "death announcements" It looks like the movie idea isn't going to happen in my life-time. I hope that if they do it that it's a quality movie that stays true to the wonder of this series.

>12 1Cookie1: and 14 You are new here, aren't you. I've only read six Pern books, Get Off the Unicorn, and I have two more unread books. Or is it three? Yes, I so want the movies also. I think it was almost a movie since the late 1980's. Right now, a Canadian movie company has all the rights to the movies. They are about .5% complete at the very most. But I bet enventually they will sell those rights. Maybe in my life they will be movies, and if not, then it's hopeless.

Ruth is my favorite Pern dragon too. I think the majority of people says so too.

I love HArper Hall books. I wished there was more or some other sides there.

I just finished reading The Masterharper of Pern. He had such a tragic life. I was very excited to find out that there is a CD with song from 'Robinton.' I just ordered it and can't wait to listen to it. I hope it is realistic, that is sounds like music might have in earths middle ages.

Oh and I am new to the group. I read 4 books some years ago and when I spotted The Masterharper of Pern I had to buy it because I enjoyed the Robinton character so much.

>19 Alexandria_annex: Welcome! It's pretty quite here for some reason, so the response you get might be minimal, but I hope you like it. If you want to you can start any topic you want.

I read my first Pern book 10 months ago or so...actually I it's more like 9 1/4 months ago. I haven't managed to get around to The Masterharper of Pern yet, but it's very high on my Wishlist!

Again, welcome!
