100 "Must-Read" Thai Books

Hello All!

I would love some advice on my next book written by a Thai. During my hunt I came upon this list and thought it would make a great discussion post on a forum like this one. Here is the link:

Scroll down to the novel นิยาย section and you will see that they mention 27 different books that are must-reads. Having not read any of these yet, I would love a recommendation as to where to start out of this batch of 27.

Any advice would be awesome!!

It is just sad that most of the books in that list have not been translated into English, and for those few which have been the list it does not give the English title. If I am not mistaken, the only two of the novels which are available in English are Four Reigns and Letters from Thailand. I enjoyed both, and would recommend to read them in that order. But as you can read Thai (sadly I cannot yet) you have more choices I cannot comment on.

Thank you for the recommendations! From these two you mentioned I think I will start with Letters from Thailand first. It sounds like a really interesting story.

Yesterday I printed out that list and brought it to the local Se-ed book store and was surprised to learn how many of these books are no longer in print!! But I plan on hitting up one of the better book stores the next time I pass through Bangkok. Hopefully, I can find more of these titles. I think hunting down these books may become more of a project than I had originally supposed.

In this site, I have found two translated books on that list, "The firld of the Great (Thung Maharat)" and "The Ghost (Pisat)".

They are mostly out of print but there are many second-hand book affordable and some secondhand bookstore have online shop.
To find those, you type name of the book and "หนังสือเก่า" and then search by google: example http://alturl.com/ncybq
